Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 19, 2008 -- The first three articles in Tyson Greer's new mobile technology series have just been published on the Microsoft Windows Mobile site. The articles include industry insights and practical advice on using Bluetooth peripherals, choosing mobile games, and acquiring new mobile applications.
Bluetooth Envy
It has only been ten years since the first Bluetooth standard was first released and since then, innovation has more than doubled the data rate and spawned an expanding market in device peripherals. Greer's article on Bluetooth technology covers Bluetooth headsets, stereo headphones (A2DP and AVRCP), keyboards, and GPS devices that pair up with mobile phones.
In the article, Greer reports that according to a July 2007 press release from the Bluetooth SIG, "More than five new Bluetooth enabled products are qualified every working day and 13 million Bluetooth units are shipping per week. The installed base of Bluetooth devices is one billion and climbing."
Introduction to the World of Games
"Technology has enabled the shift in turn-based games to ‘real-time strategy’ (RTS) games, which test your ability to out-think, out-plan, out-gun, or decide when to out-run the game programs’ artificial intelligence (AI) or your real-life team mate/opponent in real-time."
Greer's article on mobile games includes an overview of mobile game categories, tops sellers, award-winners, device compatibility, industry ratings, and mobile edugames.
Greer writes, "Educators are now taking increasing advantage of the learning potential of electronic games on mobile devices, both in the classroom and as extracurricular learning activities."
Get Apps on the Go
"So many apps, so little time… Online retailer Handango reports adding a total of 2,397 new mobile applications to their online library between January and March, 2007. What I need now is a list manager," writes Greer.
In this article, Greer describes where to buy mobile software, how to load and manage applications on the device, and how to prevent security breaches. Greer, an industry recognized mobile security expert, cautions readers to, "Make sure you’re visiting a reliable retailer you trust before typing in your credit card numbers or downloading an executable file."
These are the first of many new mobile technology articles to come. Microsoft will publish another six of Greer's articles in this series in the upcoming months. The entire series will be published in the Ambient Insight Resource Library.
